Your gift is a valuable source of support to the Daughters of Charity in their ongoing ministry to the poorest and least advantaged. There are many ways to apply your gift for this greater purpose.
Outright Gifts
You may make gifts of cash paid in full or setup recurring pledges over a period of time through our secure online connection. Although unrestricted gifts allow the Daughters of Charity to meet the most pressing needs, you may also designate your gift for the Sisters' Retirement Fund or the Mission Support Fund.
Memorials and Tributes
Friends and family members often make gifts through the memorial program to honor the memory of someone special. Grateful students and clients frequently make tribute gifts in appreciation of Sisters who have touched their lives. A tribute gift can also be used to celebrate as occasion such as a birth or anniversary.
Matching Gifts
If the company where you work has a matching gift program, you can increase the value of your gift. Contact your personnel office to see if there is a matching gift program and to obtain a matching gift form.
Appreciated Securities
Gifts of appreciated securities (e.g., stocks) allow you to make a substantial gift, avoid capital gains tax, and claim the full market value of securities held longer than twelve months, regardless of their original cost.
Bequests
A bequest through your will allows you to make a substantial gift to the Daughters of Charity without diminishing your assets during your lifetime. A bequest to the Daughters of Charity may be deducted from your taxable estate for estate tax savings.
The legal name for designating bequests is "The Sisters of Charity of St. Joseph’s, Inc."
Life Insurance
An outright gift of a life insurance policy or assignment of ownership and sole beneficiary rights to the Daughters of Charity can provide you with tax savings as well as the ability to make a substantial future gift from current assets.
Personal Property
Gifts of personal property are another means of making a charitable gift and receiving a tax deduction. There are limitations on the types of gifts we can accept, as well as appraisal requirements, so please contact the Development Office for more information.
