Obituaries

After their lifetime of ministry, Daughters of Charity are laid to their eternal rest in the Sacred Heart Cemetery on the grounds of the Provincial House.

• 05.12.2008: Sister Mary Patricia Winters (1934 - 2008)
  Sister Mary Patricia will be remembered for her prayerful, compassionate and caring manner manifested in the way she lived her vocation. Always available, whatever the need, she gave of herself wholeheartedly and willingly, her kindness and generosity knew no bounds.

• 05.12.2008: Sister Mary Eugene Monaldo (1929 - 2008)
  Sister Mary Eugene taught business at Bishop England High School in Charleston, SC, and later in Washington, D.C. at Immaculate Conception Academy. She was voted “Teacher of the Year” in 1977.

• 05.06.2008: Sister Margaret Ann Walsh (1914 - 2008)
  Margaret entered the community of the Daughters of Charity in 1936 and took the name Sister Margaret Ann. She attended Saint Joseph College in Emmitsburg and received her bachelor’s degree in nursing education in 1951

• 03.28.2008: Sister Mary Grace Finegan (1915 - 2008)
  In Baltimore, Sister Mary Grace taught elementary grades at Saint Dominic’s School; secondary grades at Seton High School and Saint Martin’s School.

  Sister Raymond was an exemplary Daughter of Charity.  Perhaps the quote on her prayer card best describes how she lived her vocation:  To pray is to breathe. Do it deeply and you will be filled with life.

• 02.13.2008: Winifred McKay (1915 - 2008)
  Sister Winifred loved music and established the music department at St. Elizabeth Seton High School, which consisted of a choral group and a band. The fledgling music department began in the 1970’s. She was 92 years with 74 of those years toward vocation.

• 02.05.2008: Sister Mary Catherine Moan (1914 - 2008)
  Sister Mary Catherine began to consider a religious vocation in the 7 th or 8 th grade. She later entered the community of the Daughters of Charity on December 1, 1934.

• 12.18.2007: Sister Ambrose Carreras (1907 - 2007)
  Sister Ambrose's missions included Saint Mary’s Infant Home, Buffalo, New York, Saint Ann’s Infant and Maternity Home in Hyattsville, Maryland, Saint Vincent Manor, Buffalo, New York, and Saint Vincent’s Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida.
